Murnel Babineaux playing non pedal

Post by David Higginbotham »

Had to post this video of 3 amazing steel players. Murnel playing non pedal, phenomenal steel player Richard Comeaux on rhythm guitar, and steel guitarist, accordion player, and singer Joe Rogers.

Murnel sure tears it up!!!!

Love Marnel's playing. He is his own man when it comes to style. Looks like he is playing a G tuning there?

Thanks for posting the video Stephen! Murnel is an amazing player as you can see. Richard is an amazing non-pedal steel as well. Most of us start on non-pedal learning the Cajun playing then progressing to pedal steel. Jesse Stutes, as Murnel mentions near the end of the clip, was a very influential player who pioneered much of the playing style here. Probably the most influential player here is Rodney Miller. His playing is echoed in nearly every Cajun steel player in our area.
