PDF files (text) is HUGE!!!
I converted some jpeg files to PDF using PDFComplete in order to send to a friend. When I converted them the text turned out HUGE. How can I get it back down to normal size?

I just convert pictures (jpg) to a smaller size and that changes them to a smaller file size for sending as an e-mail attachment.
Converting them to PDF files is not normally done.
Here is one free program for resizing that I found doing a google search. I know nothing about it other than I found it doing the search for a resizer program.

this is a pretty common issue - getting pdf's to be clear enough and have a small data size.
There are a lot of tricks to it (I wish I knew them all) and it is a great way to waste your life trying to achieve it.
If you MUST go to pdf then with tab you really need to come from a *.pcx file or a *.gif NOT a *.jpg. So if you're scanning you need to have the scan save initially (if you can) as these formats as they are more efficient with straight lines eg. simple text or tab.
The jpg format better suits pictures (complex curves) which need to be compressed. The formats like tif etc. are capable of even better quality but are not compressed (smaller data size).
Once you have your file (you want to convert) in a suitable initial format you then need to adjust your pdf converter settings (I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned) to optimise it to suit the end result (small file/clear text).
Often it ain't easy depending on the source. Have a look at the old newsletters reproduced on the site www.steelguitardownunder.com
which I do. These are a major challenge to get the balance right ie. clarity versus data size.
PM me if you need more help.

Open Office will save anything it can do as a PDF. Also, Primo PDF acts as a PDF virtual printer, and can be tweaked for web, eBook, or printing files. You just print to it instead of your paper printed.

OpenOffice is dangerous, in my opinion. This is because, to this day, it installs Java into your operating system and your browsers. Java is the primary means used to exploit computers due to its excessive list of vulnerabilities, with new ones found every month. Chances are you will get an out-dated version of Java and won't even know it...until your PC gets pwned.
If you do have or install OO, do yourself a favor and uninstall Java afterward. At least disable Java in all of your browsers. In Windows, this can be done via the Control Panel Java icon.

Weally Wise Words Wiz!
If you install OO it will install it's Java version which is probably out of date. It is essential (if you must use Java) to keep it right up to date.
Yes, quite a few programs will make PDF's or you can instal a virtual printer (pdf) BUT you still must tweak them to get the optimum settings and some programs don't offer that option.
One well known pdf printer will install a nasty? (well it's a trojan of some type - whether it's dangerous or not is debatable) which is recognised by Security software. Your AV may or may not recognise it.
Free software - don'cha love it.
