In many respects, the two Buddy's are difficult to distinguish. And both of them played for the Texas Troubadors along with Cal Smith.

Good Morning,

It's the Teaxs Troubadours, with Cal Smith on Vocals and Buddy Charleton providing the great steel work. They were really a great band and recorded several solo albums for Decca in the 1960s. :)

Kind Regards, Walter

Thiel, Jack Drake, who was ET's band leader when Emmons was playing for ET, thought Buddy Charleton WAS Buddy Emmons the first time he ever heard him.
According to Jack Drake they were getting ready to play at Hunter's Lodge in Northern Virginia, I believe, when he heard Buddies Boogie coming from the stage and wondered how Buddy Emmons got loaded in and set up so quick? He said he looked out on the stage and it wasn't Emmons playing as he thought. He couldn't believe it. He later found out it was Buddy Charleton who played for the band that opened for them. Jack later called Buddy Charleton and offered him a job with ET when Emmons left the band. The rest is history as they say. Buddy Emmons and Buddy Charleton have been two of my Very Favorite Steel Players ever. :)
