Just saw on facebook that Grand Ole Opry star Jack Greene passed away.
One of my favorites! May he rest in peace.

We found out about 5 years ago that we were cousins. We always called each other cuz after that.

The last time I saw him in St. Louis his health was already declining, but it is still very sad to read about Jack's passing. Another legend gone.

Sorry to hear this. I knew he had some problems but didn't know it was this bad.

I remember him from picking with him here in Florida about 10 years ago and he appeared at a Steel Guitar Hall of Fame fundraising show we had.

I woke up this morning, and saw the posting. By Johnny Cox on my facebook. I am saddened to learn of Jack's passing. However, I have to realize that Jack has gone home to a better place. He is again with Ernest,playing drums for him and God, in Heaven. Rest in Peace.

One of the truly nicest artist I ever met and definatly one of my favorite singers...He did me the honor of bringing his whole band out to Lynns Lounge when he was appearing at The Big "E" State Fair..And they did about two hours between him and the Band along with a pretty lady who was with him who sang "don't Touch me"..May he rest in peace.. Jack stopped by Robert's a couple years ago and sang some with us. I'm not sure he knew where he was, but he he hadn't lost any singing ability. What a great talent, and a nice guy.

Not to take anything from himself as a great singer but another Troubadour has left us. Bobbe Seymour introduced me to Jack in St. Louis one year and I never forgot that hand shake. He was a true entertainer and may he rest now in peace with his other Troubadours companions.

I met him in St Louis one year. He talked to us as if he'd know us all his life. He was a giant.

This hurt a lot. "Who's gonna fill their shoes?" I don't see it happening. My first time to play the Opry I remember standing in the wing and watching Jack sing Statue Of A Fool and thinking "It doesn't get any better that this" RIP my friend.

Jack was truly talented and expressive with his singing. His cover of "Don't You Ever Get Tired" was, I think, the best version of that song. Of course, it wasn't hard to recall this one, and all the times I played it.

Sad news indeed. Those of us who worked for Jack certainly had a deep love and respect for this man. I just found out yesterday evening. My heart is heavy for his many friends and family members. Jack never met a stranger. He was never aloof nor puffed up with pride. I can't say enough good things about him. My prayer is that he will now find that beautiful resting place that he so richly deserves.

I saw Jack perform for the first time along with Jeannie at the National Guard Armory in Farmville N.C.in 1968.I was still in High School."What Locks The Door" is my favorite.It really hurts to lose such a great country artist.We will all miss him.
