Anyone listen closely to the "Twin Guitar" ride beween Vince and Andy. This just doesn't happen, it takes a lot of "Woodshedding" to play the parts and get the phrasing together. Nobody is reading music, it all has to be memorized. The only thing comparble
for the tone and arrangements is the old SpadeCooley Band from the forties and fifties !

Saw The Time Jumpers at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park last October.

Truly one of the highlights of the huge three day festival and the crowd loved 'em. No doubt many in the audience didn't know Paul Franklin from Ben Franklin, but I like to say that great music is great music and even if someone has little knowledge of what they're seeing and hearing, folks recognize it when it's in front of them.

I have seen groups with really good musicians who could not play well together or get along. The Time Jumpers are a special group and can put out some great music and singing. And it sure helps having Paul Franklin for your steel player.

Absolutely incredibile!! That band has reached the pinnacle of togetherness; there are only a few that have ever approached that realm IMHO. The Buckaroos and the Strangers come to mind, though. This music performed by the Time Jumpers is so awesome; the stuff that dreams are made of!! We all know that Vince Gill and Paul Franklin make for a tremendous sound, but each and every musician on that stage are truly wonderful in their own right! Hey, and Dawn Sears style makes me think a little bit of Miss Connie Smith. She may not be very big in stature, but man, what a singing voice!!!! Loved it!

I just saw them on Feb. 8th at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts here in Virginia Beach. It was without a doubt the best concert I've ever seen including the time I saw the Eagles live when I lived in SoCal. The mix was flawless and for the whole two hours I was mesmerized to say the least. There ain't a weak link in the whole chain of this band for sure. One musician who really made my night is fiddler Larry Franklin! He's a master and really was a great addition to the band. I thought it'd be tough to replace Aubry Haney but Larry F. did it with flying colors... Paul F's playing was subperb as usual and as someone mentioned the twin guitars of Andy R. and Vince G. I was really floored by Vince's playing. I'd never seen him play anything other than his own songs on Telecaster and had never heard him with an archtop and playing western swing. And then there's Dawn Sears vocals. She has to be the best out there and I wonder why she never made the "big time" as she can outsing 'em all and that includes the late Patsy Cline.... I hope they have 'em back again in this area, I'll be there...........JH in Va.

Jerry: These guys, including Vince, are playing for the "Love of Music", Each one is inspiring the rest with great playing. Even Vince is functioning as a "Sideman" and is not trying be be the Star of the Show. I wish they could be booked into the Cerritos Performing Arts Center down the road from me here in So Calif.

The voices, the musicians, the sound and simplicity of each member.

When I started visiting this forum, one of the first links I checked out was one to the Time Jumpers with John Hughey on steel, and a killer vocal from Dawn Sears on Sweet Memories. That made me a fan not only of the band, but the style they play, too.

They obviously take great pleasure in the playing and that makes it even more fun to watch - something like how I feel watching "Live from Daryl's House" in a different vein.

The steel is always great, but the thing in the Time Jumpers clips I've seen that always gets me is when the three fiddlers play together - so sweet sounding.

When I visit The Time Jumpers in San Francisco last october I was very impressed of Paul´s sound. I stand a little on the stage to look wich amp Paul used.I saw that he playing trough a Nashville 400 only. This proves again that the sound is in his hands. But I must say this black Franklin guitar has also character.

Hey Paddy, I don't believe that Larry is any relation to Paul. I remember him from some years back when he was with "Asleep at the Wheel". He had long hair and played a 5 string fiddle in those days and used to sing a song called "Texas Fiddle Man". When I saw the TJ in concert in Feb. Larry sang a tune in that show also. He wrote one of the instrumentals on their latest CD called "Texhoma Bound" which is outstanding and he really shines on it as does the rest of the band.....JH in Va.
