DAVID WRIGHT & JOAN COX at the February 2013 TSGA meetin
Joan Cox and David Wright were the Featured Players at the February 2013 meeting of the Texas Steel Guitar Association in Dallas, Texas.
The following links are Video's taken at that meeting.
Mr. Dick Hammonds sang a couple of favorites with Joan, April's Fool and I'm Still Not Over You.
David introduced us to Clint Sturgeon, a Vocalist and Bass Player that performs with David at the Covenant Cowboy Church in Crossroads, Texas.
They performed three selections.
And we were all delighted with David and Rebecca doing I'm and Old Cowhand (From The Rio Grande), and I Fall To Pieces.
I am sorry to report that I was unable to capture the last 2 selections of the day.
David did his Blues 12-Bar using some really interesting effects.
And a real highlight was the final selection of Just A Closer Walk With Thee, where David and Joan shared the spotlight on a Beautiful Swing Version.
I am very grateful to Joan and David as well as Albert Talley and the members of the TSGA for allowing me the privilege to shoot the video.
I am proud to share these great times with you.

I have sure enjoyed seeing these videos. I want to "Thank You" George for all the work you have put into making these videos possible. I know for sure you have spent several hours pulling these off your camera to your computer and on to YouTube. I bet David and Joan are really happy for all the effort you have put into this.

Gee Wizz Mark:
What Gentlemen y'all are up there in FAR North Texas!
I really appreciate you and the fact that it is my meeting you that got me started with the Steel Guitar.
As well as your introducing me to Paul King. Because of your suggestion that I try to find a U-12 Millennium to learn, I lucked into the last one to be produced. And lucked into Reece Anderson as a teacher and mentor. The Lord puts people in our lives for various reasons. I am thankful that he has put you in mine for a great one. Thanks again.

Tone Joan - Johnny Dumplin' Cox
Hello Johnny:Johnny Cox wrote:Joan still knocks my socks off with her playing. What I would give for that tone. It can't be bought, I already tried. Way to go girl. The bald guy ain't bad either.
It was a real pleasure meeting and recording Joan. She told the members the story of the Bus Turn-Over and her Red MSA. Sure was a great story. And a scary one for you as well. I hope to meet you someday, and add you to the great players I have had the honor to hear personally. And Thanks again to Joan.

More bands in Texas should hire Joan. I just don't get it with these people. Never give a second thought to hiring a chick fiddle or keyboard owner with their boobs up under their chin, But an adult with real talent? Joan plays better than most male steel players that I've heard, I just don't get it.
Just sayin' folks.
