MalwareBytes and MSE

Post by Bob Farlow »

Can MSE and MalwareBytes co-exist without problems?
OS is XP. Should MB auto protect mode be disabled and only use manual scan mode?

Malwarebytes and MSE work fine together. Leave Malwarebytes on full automatic mode.

Absolutely yes. You can run MBAM along side of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), with MBAM in full active protection mode. In fact you almost must do this to keep your Windows computers protected from the threats that MSE either doesn't recognize, or fails to stop.

Microsoft Security Essentials was recently part of a test of the major brands of anti-virus/anti-malware programs (see results at AV-test.org) that had both known viruses and zero-day threats from malware thrown at them and MSE finished dead last in the protection category. These tests were conducted on a Windows 7 machine. The results on XP computers would be similar, at best, if not worse.
