You-Tube Problem.

Post by Archie Nicol R.I.P. »

Over the past couple of weeks any video I try to watch on YT is jerky and out of synch. Any ideas what could be the cause.

Cheers,
Arch.

Sounds like you are describing me.

Actually, I have noticed that problem on many videos over several years.

Playing for 55 years and still counting.

I too get that occasionally, on a high speed cable link.

But, are any other sites slow too? It may be your link to the ISP?

I don't know about Scotland, but www.speedtest.net is what I use to check up and down speeds.

Just seems to be You-Tube. It's not that they play slow, just jerky. (sounds like a good name for a meat product. :)

When it starts jerking, press the STOP button; the video will continue to download and you can see the buffer filling up. At some point, press play again and hopefully it won't drain the buffer before the video is finished.

Thanks, Pete. It's not that. I have reasonable download speed and the buffering line(?) fills up quite quickly. I can watch stuff that I have saved on Real Player without any trouble. It's just You-Tube that won't work.

Another plea from a frustrated me. I've checked and tried the stuff on You-Tube's Help page and have had no joy. Might be something simple that I'm missing. Most annoying!

I have found that the cookies that are loaded on with UT will do that - see if you can clean out the cookie jar in you computer

Maybe that will do it

Thanks, Bob. I think I've done that by following the suggestions on the `Help` page. I clear my own computer's history monthly. Nothing seems to help.

Gosh Arch!
What have you bin watching on YT. Some of those vids will corrupt even a computer's mind - ha ha.
If it was Taylor Swift the voice codecs even go off key! Maybe you are so far north up there that the feed can't make it up the hill!

Seriously your problem is most likely to be something on your own computer or your data feed (ISP/connection) but with out knowing your setup pretty much in detail it is impossible for me to diagnose.

Before blaming YT always remember that each time you connect to the internet your computer gets changed and you are quite oblivious to this. That is why we need to 'do the housework" and clean all those things off the computer pretty regularly.
