Unless you have some custom needs, Windows 7 will burn CDs for you directly with no additional software needed.

I burn a lot of CD's and really don't see any need for a separate burning program. Win7 has great capabilities but even XP and NT have built in CD burning through either WMP or Windows Explorer. You can still control the burn rate and other parms but for over 5 years I've never had any trouble getting a good CD burn out of windows using the default setup.

Barring a problem with the drive or the actual CD-R discs (and I assume it is a burner drive), go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the drive and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the drive. This fixes Windows corruptions and a lot of other flakey problems and may take care of your problem.

Are you certain your computer has a CD recorder and not just a playback unit?Wade Romonosky wrote:Thanks for the help guys. I downloaded CDburnerXP only to find out I have a bigger problem. My burner won't recognize a cd-r. So its back to the drawing board.
