Trend Micro Free has slowed me down.

I have downloaded & installed the free 30 day trial of Trend Micro Titanium as reccommended. Loading has become real slow. I don't use chrome, I do use IE. PC- Vista.Also windows defender. I have gotten a few prompts about IE add-ons that point me to Trend Micro to ask if I want to disable any or all of those add-ons. Should I disable any, and if so, which ones? Also, I used to use Avira free, no problems.
I guess thats what I get for being so cheap!

All anti virus software uses your computer's resources. In the computer magazines from time to time they do comparos of which ones are heaviest on your computer.
A couple of years ago Norton and yours used to show up as the worst on using resources (this slows your computer down for what YOU are doing as opposed to what the AV is doing in the background).
Norton did a redesign and improved markedly. I am not convinced that Trend Micro has done as well with it's updates.
All anti virus programs (now) have a lot to check through and they do it in real time while you are busy with your work. If they scan or full scan your drives in the background this will also markedly slow things down. You may have to adjust the AV schedule as to when it does scans to when you are not busy on the thing.
Of the current batch of AV's I find Kaspersky & Norton to be the least heavy on your computer - I don't want to get into which AV is the best as that would be like asking which is the best Pedal Steel.
The "free" or "trial" AV's are usually not designed to be the "best" in every aspect. Once you pay up and the software is updated it can be quite different in some aspects.
It goes without saying that the faster (or newer eg. with a 64 bit OS) your computer is the less the AV resource usage will show up.

Bud, my recommendation would be to download Microsoft Security Essentials, then un-install all of the Trend Micro security products, reboot and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE is light on system resources and free!
