Impressions - first video!

Post by Christopher Woitach »

Here's a video my friend Dan Schulte and I made the other day. I'm still a bit of a beginner (2 1/2 years on uni steel, 1 1/2 on Bb6), so, to my ears, a bit amateurish, sloppy, and pitchy... Nonetheless, a decent start, I guess.

I'll post something soon with more chords, hopefully with me less nervous!

Hello Christopher,
That was great. Lovely 'swing', and improvization.
I am looking forward to more of this.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the support, guys - I confess to being pretty shy about my steel playing. Weird sensation - when I play six string I am pretty fearless, happy to play anything from Dixieland to blazing modern jazz, and pretty much anything in between.

Clearly, this is going to take a lot longer than I thought. My poor wife.....

Nice ride!

In town full of steel players, there just aren't that many playing jazz. It's good to hear you've taken up the challenge :)

Christopher!

Thanks for posting that video, so nice to hear you on that fine instrument of yours, and Mr. Schulte, as well. Neat to see HIM on the SGF, and he sounds great, too.

Hope to see you guys again soon! BTW, I'm using the C6 tuning again...

I will second Jim Cohen's comment, but will phrase it a bit different (a la Oliver Twist): "Please, sir, may we have more?"

Also, how did you record? I am trying to match recording methods to resulting sound using simple methods.

Great job! Thanks,

Doug

Everybody

Thanks! I appreciate the support!

Doug - I just used a little Zoom video recorder. It's not amazing, especially the video, but the sound is pretty good, and it's cheap!

I find it entertaining and interesting to see and hear you play Christopher! An accomplished Jazz Guitarist bringing his "chops" to Steel Guitar.
It can only mean good things for the future.

I hope you do more....much more!
