Zip Files That I Can`t Open

Anyone that can help me with this,i bought a USBstick from Ebay with Ziped midi files,but no matter what software i try none of them will open the files,

I have tride Winrar winzip,and other software but still none of them will open the Z files.

What are they supposed to be? .zip files? or some other compression? Also, could be they are corrupt and the reason you can't open them and in that case its back to the seller.

Maybe they are locked with a password, which you have to buy?
