I feel stupid asking this, but......
I just got an iMac G3 that was used in a school system. I loaded my printer software with no problem and can print anything that is on the screen. I want to type just a simple letter and print it. I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING ON THIS COMPUTER that will just let me do a simple thing like type a letter. What am I missing here?

If you can boost the amount of RAM to 1 GB, then you can download and install OpenOffice, which includes a word processor.

Wiz, thanks, but I have no idea how to increase the ram to 1 GB. I am just too much of a novice to know how to do that.
I don't understand why anybody would make a computer without a word processor program. I have never had anything except Mac's for 20 years and I have always been able to type a document and print it.

What's the CPU clock speed and amount of RAM on that iMac? The faster the clock, the more likely it is to handle OpenOffice with under 1 gig of RAM. There are other word processors available, some of which will not be so intensive on resources.

Thanks Wiz and Cal. I opened the applications folder then clicked on Text Edit as you suggested, Cal. I am up and running. I just typed a simple message in Text Edit and hit print. It worked just fine, so I am good. I thought that surely there was a way to type up a simple document and print it off, somewhere on this iMac. To me Text Edit sounds like editing something that has already been done, so I would never have thought of this being a word processing program on my own. THANKS SO MUCH.
