Davy Jones R.I.P.
Davy Jones, former lead singer & teen idol for the Monkees back in the 60's passed away sometime wednesday morning. Davy was a big fan of the Steel Guitar and I was told at one time owned a ZB Custom. R.I.P. Mr. Jones as you take that Last Train to Clarksville. . .

Thanks Nick, for posting this simple, straightforward thread in honor, and remembrance of Davy Jones.
This was one of my favorites, back when I was a single digit, youngster.

There were many grandmothers crying for DJ that night, suddenly, instantly transported back to their prepubescent days of puppy love, and crushes they thought they would never survive. Just on word of his passing.
He was a nice man and profesional entertainer, but more than that he was a social icon of a whole decade in transition for the USA. Most all houses with a record player and a child in 1965 had at least one Monkees album in it too.
Ignore the attempts to compare them to the Beatles or as a bulwark to the British Invasion. They were just good clean pop music, that no one could object to and...
" It has a good beat, you can dance to it".
The music remained innocent and clean cut even as we grew more cynical and jaded, but yet we hear 'Last Train to Clarkesville' or 'Daydream Believer' and can't help smiling as it brings us all back to a more innocent time. How can one argue having a legacy like that?
RIP Davy Jones, in your time you were loved by millions.
