Not that I was around yet, but it's hard to believe it has been 70 years.

It was the day after, on December 8th, that my dad and a couple of his buddies went down to the recruiting office and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was 18 years old.

I was eleven years old. I wish that the American people would pull together now as they did after this attack. Jody.

I've been there also, and I echo Mike's statement above. If you don't feel patriotic after standing over the Arizona, there is something seriously amiss. Those boys are still down there.

The attack wasn't a total surprise; many in the gov't knew it was coming, we just didn't know where. Japan had overrun China and SE Asia brutally and was being punished for that with trade embargoes and other politics by the USA. I fear we face a similar situation with a certain mid-Eastern country seeking nuclear capability, and the stakes are immensely higher. I will refrain from politics now. Sorry for the thread hi-jack, b0b.

We were there this past October. The feeling is overwhelming once you walk through the last door and stand before the ominous marble wall, where all the names of the sailors are inscribed.
