BiaB Riffs

Can somebody guide me in the proper use of Riffs?? I did a search here & on the BiaB site but nothing. At one time I found a whole bunch of Riffs, guitar banjo Piano etc, now I can only find Piano. But where & how do I use them.. I thought they were like licks & you could add them in any bar you wanted too, but can't find out how to do that. I couldn't find anything in the tutorials..

I've been a BIAB user since 2008, done all kinds of things with it, and have moderated this forum section since it's beginning, but have never heard of riffs within BIAB. Sorry I can't help.

They are midi based, so as such can be placed in the song but I'm not sure how but it would be easier accomplished using Real Band. PIck a track and import a rif then line it up with the rest of the music.

I usually play my own guitar or piano riffs etc. You can record those live in the melody track.

Thanks. I haven't used Real Band yet, maybe that's where I'm stumped. I've been trying to incorporate them into BIAB..
David there are many 101 Riffs that came on my BIAB 2010.5, 101 Riffs Blues Piano, 101 Riffs Jazz Piano, 101 Riffs Country Guitar, 101 Riffs Solo Intros, 101 Riffs Trio Intros, etc.

Cool, I'm running an older version, and a pretty basic one at that, maybe it's just my version or edition that don't have them.

I looked at the country guitar riffs, and they show up as a style. In the riff folder they are listed as CG001.sty etc. Each one also includes an audio notation explaining how to play the riff live.

I haven't tried this but if you went to bar settings and did a style change for one or two bars, you might be headed in the right direction. Again I can't stress enough how much easier it is to do things like this in Real Band.

Thanks Robert, Yes I suppose it is. Just new territory to venture into, & I'm a bit aprehensive, but I guess sooner or later I'm gonna have to make the plunge..

Just not sure where to start, & have been really concentrating trying to build decent tracks in BIAB..A friend wants to come over & record as couple songs, one is Carol County Accident. So I make the tracks, import them into my Korg D3200 as individual wave files,(so I can manipulate each track seperately) & then add his voice, Steel, fiddle, lead guitar etc. I suppose this could all be done in real band, but I wouldn't know where to start,, lol.. I will give a try at putting the riffs(styles) into bars. The hard part will be to listen to all the Riffs & pick some out..

FWIW the "Riffs" are INSTRUCTIONAL not constructional..

So are you saying they can not be used as they are anywhere??? I notice some are talked through as instructions. Most are not & I can call them up & they will play, just like licks, intos, endings.. Is there any place where it tells you about Riffs, learning, Using, etc. I can't find it anywhere..

I couldn't find any instructions for use, since I think they are mostly for instructional purposes. That being said, there is always a way to use them. For example you could import that particular midi file into a spare track in Real Band, and manipulate it there by changing the key, or a particular note, tempo etc. It could also be done in BIAB onto the melody track or maybe soloist track, but probably a bit more convoluted.

No.. I said they are INTENDED to be etc..
