I am very sad to report the passing of my dear friend Sonny Deaton. He was a dear family friend for many years.

RIP Sonny


Vernon Lee (Sonny) Deaton Sr., 69, of Gallatin, Tenn., passed away April 18, 2011. Mr. Deaton was preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn and Elizabeth Deaton; and grandson, Jacob Deaton. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Euna Deaton; son, Vernon "Sonny" Deaton Jr. (Janet); daughter, Valerie Deaton Cushen (Shawn); son, Victor Deaton (Sharida); sisters, Ruth, Pearl and Jean; grandchildren, Jimmy Deaton, Jesse Deaton, Mary-Molly Storey, Annie Elizabeth Storey, Josie Deaton; and great-grandchild, Jaiden Deaton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 21, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Crestview Funeral Home. A life celebration service will be conducted on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Crestview Funeral Home with David Filson officiating. What a wonderful and BRILLIANT guy he was!
I'll miss him coming by to talk about recording studios, steel guitars and mutual old friends, God bless his great soul.
