Todd,
What a very nice posting.
We all thought so very much of Tom and I'm sure he is making beautiful music for the Lord on a golden guitar.

Mr. Tom is dearly missed - especially by those of us who were blessed enough to become acquainted with him and enjoy his hospitality!

Since he passed away, my thoughts turn to him every time that we sing an Albert E. Brumley hymn at church.
There is just something about that Brumley name that gives me a warm feeling inside!

With much love and fond memories,

Your family is in our thoughts. Thanks to all of you, and especially Rolene, for allowing Tom to give us such beautiful music throughout the years. I linked a couple tunes of his to my FB page tonite as a tribute - maybe he'll garner a few new fans.

I was looking through a book of gospel songs and I came across "I'm Bound For That City".
The credits for the song are to Albert, Bill, Bob, Tom, and Jack Brumley.

"I'm Bound for the city, God's holy, white city;
oh, yes, I am.
I'll never turn back to this world anymore, anymore.
No matter how rough may be the way,
No matter how oft I stop to pray,
I'm bound for that city on that ever green shore."

Very appropriate, Erv.

His ability was second only to his demeanor.

As said before, Ms. Rolene, thank you for being here.

Years ago, while attending the DJ convention in Nashville, I heard some steel music coming from a hospitality room and had to see who it was. As I entered another fellow was leaving, saying over his shoulder that he'd be right back. It turned out that I knew the drummer (Johnny Virgin) from home. The steel player was Tom Brumley. Johnny knew I was just learning bass but asked me to play until another came along and I agreed, if "you'll keep it simple." We played some slow song and I was in Heaven. But here came the guy who had been leaving and he had a Fender guitar he'd gotten down the hall. He and Tom quiokly tuned and went straight into Little Rock Getaway. I was lost after the first bar but just deadened the strings and kept beat, hollering at Johnny to fine a bass man, quick. I did 2 or 3 that way before another bass player walked in. Soon as I could I asked Johnny who the guitar player was and he said Jimmy Bryant. I have relived that occasion many times and proudly tell anyone who will listen that I got to play with Tom Brumley and Jimmy Bryant. And of course, I grew up listening and singing Albert E. Brumley hymns. Todd, my heart and my prayers are with your family.

Ray, what a great story. I'm so glad you shared it with us. I don't guess you remember the date. I know it was quite a few years ago, before Jimmy passed on. I am going to print it out and put in my scrapbook. Was it a steel guitar convention ??
Thanks again,
Love,

Rolene,
On the 2nd aniversary of Toms passing I must share this story. When you and Tom attended the Bucks Birthday Bash, my wife Margie and I were there at the Chrystal Palace on the first nite. Buck acknowledged you, Tom, Doyle Holley and his wife setting at a table awaiting the arrival of Willie Cantu. Buck called Tom and Doyle and Willie up to play and we experienced for the first time the magic the Buckaroos had, even though Terry Cristofferson filled in on guitar there was still pure magic. The following nite Tom was needing a volume pedal and I offered to lend him mine. He came by our hotel room the next day to try out the pedal. I had my Emmons set up in my roon, Tom said he would like to try out the Emmons and pedal. I got to set in my hotel room and listen to Tom play my Emmons for around 45 minutes or so. I asked Tom for permission to take some pictures of him, he said yes. That was a memory for a lifetime. Tom said thanks for letting him try our my Emmons. He found another pedal for that nite though. God bless you and your family and God bless Tom.

Rolene,
The pictures I took were from a 35 MM Cannon Rebel camera. I could mail them to you and you could copy them, unless I can figure something else out.

The highlight of my trips to Branson and The Texas Steel show was the opportunity to see and here Tom play. I know this anniversary is tough. Your are in my thoughts and prayers. Seems like lots of the REAL heros of steel guitar have left us in the past 5 or 6 years. God Bless the Brumley family.

I still have the old Buckaroo 33 RPM instrumental album which was the first instumental album I ever bought. I spent hours trying to play and sound like Tom,unfortunatelly I never will.

Rolene I cherish the times I have got to be around You,Tom and your Family. The highlight of my music life was to be invited up to the theater where you guys had your daily show. Terry Bethel invited me to be on the show there and later on down at the Baldknobber Theater. What a trip for an old boy that never had a paying, playing gig in his life.

The last time Carolyn and I were in Branson,we were hoping to meet you at the little downtown diner, where the breakfast was so good when we met you and Tom there.

Things did not work as we planned. We had a condo rented for all week, unfortunately I got a call to come home due my mothers heart failure so we had to leave after being in town only 2 1/2 days. Luckily we got to be with her for her last three days

Again thanks for all the good memories. Love you guys. Tell all the Family hello.

I was a teenager back in the late "50s" when I used to watch Tom and Al on the tv show "Circle 7 Jamboree" out of Pittsburg, Kansas. It was on every saturday night and included Virgil Glenn, Shorty Pruitt on fiddle and others I don't remember. Girl singer named Coleen. Man, I'd love to see those shows again.
