R.I.P. Johnny Lyon
I just got word that my friend Johnny Lyon lost his battle with cancer last night. Johnny was a great singer and entertainer known throughout Texas with his band The Country Nu Notes. He will be missed. R.I.P. my friend!

Sorry to hear about Johnny. He was great entertainer and friend. I had the privilige of getting to play behind him at some jams. A super nice guy who treated you like he was glad you were there when he was on stage. He will be deeply missed.

I learned of Johnny's passing a couple of hours ago.
I worked for Johnny for several years. A nicer and more honest person you will never meet. He helped a lot of peope in his lifetime, one case in particular that I was privy to...a fellow musician who needed help got it in a big way from Johnny. I loved Johnny with all my heart, and I know he is on the bandstand in Heaven now.
RIP my friend, you will be missed. jc

I just got off the phone with Bush. Wow, even though I knew The Colonel was ailing, I didn't expect the end so soon. Sad say here for Central TX musicians.
I too was a Country Nu-Note! Back in 1973, in fact. And we worked together occasionally over the decades and always had a good time with each other. There were many great players in that band over the years, many indeed. Johnny Lyon left quite a legacy.

Thats really sad to hear, I met him a while back while playing at the hall of fame in Bryan, He was telling me how happy it made him to see a young steel player that was playing the old stuff. The Hall was and still is one of my very favorite clubs on the circuit. RIP Johnny.
Emmons P/P's into the loudest amp I can get ahold of. No effects other than reverb. EVER!. Come catch a show and be sure and say hi!

Johnny was a very fine singer and person and I’m proud to say I was a Country Nu-Note now and then over the years. I enjoyed playing those shows because Johnny always had a great band, sang good songs, and was a pleasure to hang with. Vaya con dios my friend.

I have also had Johnny close out my December www.twangtownusa.com "Swingin' West" Holiday show with that gem. It is a tremendous job on an awesome tune. You can hear it linked from the home page of my web site- www.swinginwest.com
