Copying BIAB to another drive..
OK, I bent & bought BIAB on a hard drive.. seems like it's about a 250 gig.. Now I have a spare 160 gig external drive, & I would like to make a backup of my BIAB drive to the spare external drive I have. What is the best way to do this, Nero, or just drag & drop all files or????

Unless there is an executable file to load BIAB, you would be wasting your time copying it to another hard drive. It wouldn't work without that as there would be no registry entry for it in windows. Files you can move without any problem but not the actual program.
The workaround for that would be to go to the regedit program, find the registry entries for BIAB and export them to a folder somewhere. Then, if you had to reload your external BIAB, all you would have to do is import those entries back into the registry.

I copied the whole lot onto a 1 TB USB hard drive and it is running off this drive without any problems.
There is no installation, so there is no involvement of the registry.
I just don't know how to get 250 Gb of data onto a 160 Gb drive.

I used Acronis hard disk manager for one clone of the BIAB 2011 everything pack on a 160 gb hard disk transfer and for the other clone I used Paragon disk manager.
Acronis cloned the 160 gb HD from PG Music in about 20 mins. Paragon took about 3 mins. less. If you leave the copying and pasting to Windows or Mac as far as that goes you will be vulnerable to 100's of registry mistakes as well as hours and hours of copying.
I have used Acronis for 2 years now cloning every hard drive I own possibly 15 to 20 and I have only had one or 2 mistakes and Acronis was able to just go back and fix the one bad spot without re-cloning the complete disk.
On the other hand I have only used Paragon disk manager for almost a year and haven't cloned as many hard drives but the 5 or 6 that I have have been cloned bit for bit with no errors.
But if you do not have any programs like I mentioned and there are several apps to choose from. Please do as Peter Den Hartog suggested copy and paste in small quantities and have patience
Good luck
Big Bob

Thanks Bob, I did a drag & drop, & it said there were some files were not copied.. tried it several times with the same results, so I may have to look at Paragon or Acronis.. If you had to choose, which one would you get?? is there a free version that wold do the job, or would I go for the purchase??
