Vernon Hester passed today

Post by Charles Tilley »

My good friend Vernon Hester in Casey, So.Carolina passed away this afternoon after an extended illnes of Cystic Fibrosis of his lungs. Vernon was a very good steel player and some of you may remember him from the past. I will surely miss my friend.

Oh Lord, not another one gone! I just found out about Rob Parker yesterday, now today I read about Vernon. Never knew Vernon, but admired his steel renditions on the Forum. ..
May God be with the family in their time of sorrow.

Very sad news. I did not know Vernon personally, but we had several exchanges by private e-mail.

He went to the trouble of sending me a DVD of his performances.

He was always enthusiastic about playing and I loved the sound he got from that Rickenbacher.

I'm praying for his family. I heard him at the South Carolina steel convention in October and he played outstanding. Rip Vern.

I was just about to respond to one of Vernon's postings when I read that he had passed away. A great loss to our community. I always enjoyed the music he posted. He had a great talent.
