When I play at Church, I'm the only live instrument (pedal steel). I have a lap top running BIAB for my rhythm section. I use Drums, Piano, Bass and Guitar from BIAB.
I have a small cord that plugs into the headphone jack on the laptop ( 3.5mm trs male) and has 2 male RCA plugs on the other end, which I plug into 2 adapters from RCA (female) to XLR male, then into the snake going to our main mixer.
I set the laptop in front of the steel on a music stand and operate it from there.
There are 3 vocalist and the preacher going into the same mixer.
The main mixer, in this case is a Yamaha 21 channel powered mixer.
FWIW, I also plug the preamp out on the back of my Nashville 112 into the snake and run it through the mixer into the mains. I use the Nashville 112 speaker for stage monitor.
Works like a champ for me

Dave,
I don't use my steel in our band just yet but for our setup we are using a laptop with a usb interface out to an audio interface (Tascam US1641) then from there to the crossover, then to a Yorkville M1610 amp and then out to the speakers. We are running 4 speakers (2 passive tops and 2 powered subs) so the passive get connected from the speaker output on the rear of the amp while the powered subs get connected directly from the crossover. Everything goes through the crossover before going to the speakers. The speakers are just routed differently due to passive/powered.
When I do get the steel added in I will be inputting it into the Tascam and then out to the amp via the crossover.

I am beginning to think the two amp setup may be the best. I tried a Radio Shack 4 channel mixer and could not get any volume out of either the guitar nor the computer. It can't be this hard can it? Guitar into mic input and BIB into aux input with RCA plugs. Maybe I am losing something with the adapters.
