If I was going to be frank, I'd have to say there are so many good E9th steel men in Texas that no one could say who exactly plays that well. 15 or twenty names come to mind as I write.

Truth is I just don't know whose has the bar but the voice is certainly Johnny Bush...

That could be who it is because Weldon wrote me a letter from Texas, telling how he put his family and Fender 1000 in a old chevy and left for Nashville. The rest is Forum history !!

I really don't know if Jimmy Day was from Texas but if I'm going to be Frank, it wasn't his kind of thing. True, he worked extensively with Johnny Bush but he never got into that sort of style. He had his own thing and his own followers, of which I am one, but this was not it.

In the beginning there were two main lines; Day and Emmons and those trees branched out from there. I can still see the divide but it has really become blurred over the years and they seemed to blend into each other. We could have a decades long discussion on this matter but to what end...They are both beautiful and individual and that is what matters !!

I still, after many listens, cannot discern who is playing this piece.

Wow, that was quite a discussion!

The track comes from the 1997 album - "The Offenders - Reunion".

Musicians are:

Johnny Bush - Vocals, Drums
David Zettner - Bass
Willie Nelson - Vocals, Guitar
Jimmy Day - Steel

plus guests:

Floyd Domino - Piano
Johnny Gimble - Fiddle
Kimmie Rhodes - Backup Vocals

The album was also produced by Jimmy Day.
