Post by b0b »

received via email:
My dad passed away last night. He was a supporter of the Steele Forum, and logged in each day. He also attended all the conventions. Perhaps you knew him, Harold Dean Batye, AKA Missouri. Could you please post an obituary in your forum, I am sure that there will be few people who may miss him.
Thank you,
Delin Finley
I never met him in person, but Dean was an active member with a positive attitude. You can read his writings by following this link:

Rest in peace, Missouri Dean.

A good man. A good friend. Always had that smile and something nice to say. May God bless his family and friends and rest his soul.

Oh, no. I'm saddened to hear this. I didn't know him well but we always greeted one another at steel shows and he always wore that beaming smile that just lit up the room. Rest in Peace, dear Dean.

Another raising of the glass for dear Dean! What a great guy, one of the most positive, friendly men to attend the steel shows. I will miss him, as will all of us who are steel show regulars. RIP, buddy.

Dean and I met in Phoenix 2 years ago. We had dinner together at that time and again last year. He had planned to visit me here in L.A., and it almost happened, but then something came up at the last minute and he had to postpone the trip.

We didn't know each other well, but I could see he was a good man.

What sad news!! Dean was always such a great supporter of not only the SWSGA, but many of the steel shows around the country. You always knew when he was around, because he could smile like no other, and was always so positive and all around good guy. We will miss Dean not only at this year's upcoming show, but for all the rest to come. May God rest your soul, Dean, and may God comfort your family.

Oh No!! That is so sad. I was expecting to see Dean at the Phoenix show next week. I didn't really know Dean, but we always visited and he acted like we were old buddies. He like to pull your leg now and then, but that made him a fun guy to talk to. He will truly be missed. My condolences to his family.

Delin, I knew your Dad for quite a while and always looked forward to visiting with him, either in person, or email. He was a true gentleman and loved our music.
He is being missed by a lot of folks.
I had received an email from Kathy, the morning after his passing and was knocked down by the news. Our sincere condolences are sent to you and your family.

So sorry to hear of Dean's passing.
Here's a picture with him in it from about 6 months ago at the Steel Jam in Alameda, CA.
He didn't play that day, but I know he had a good time listening and hanging out with some of his steelin' buddies.
Dean is sitting at the bar, on the far left, wearing a light colored shirt.

Marc
