Dang Dave, you're the greatest thing to come along since sliced bread. Number #47 downloaded and almost a gigabyte of hard drive used. No worry tho as I've got about 50 gigabytes left for your videos. Keep up the great playing. Ray

My Youtube tone leaves a lot to be desired, I've tried to emulate David's very professional tone, with no success whatsoever.
Do I need to go through some sort of a mixer, then into the computer, as opposed to my current method of playing in front of a camcorder, which picks up all of the sound, including mechanical noise.

1st/ I like the hair!
2nd/ Yes. I record the video while recording the audio on a multitracker at the same time. You can then mix the audio to sound nice then drag it into your video editor before posting onto youtube. I use Adobe Premier Pro for the video. Drag the finished audio file into the video (after deleting the video's audio) and sync it into place then post it. PS. I have tried a PC for recording on many occasions and find it mainly hard to use, not user friendly, time consuming, etc etc. A simple mixer and a mini disc will do a better job.! Or better still a four or 8 track digital recorder ie. Fostex DMT-8. It has the best EQ on a mutitracker and you can pick them up for about £100 or less. Old machines now but as easy as a cassette recorder to use. I never use more than 4 tracks. Two for the backing track (previously recorded, and 2 for the steel, only if i mutitrack..whiach can be heard on one or two of my youtubes. Don't overdue the multitrack steel though as it gets cluttered.
3rd/ Your videos are fine, do your own thing and enjoy your steel, you are a very nice player.
Best Wishes, and are you going to the ISGA in 2 weeks?

Hi Jon
Yes I will do that for you, you will find I will be adding tabs on a weekly basis to the new website as from now. Regards to you all, this thread is about 1 1/2 years old. My recording techniques are different now as I use an iMac and Logic Pro 8.
