Sounds crazy. Has any of this stuff been recorded? I'd love to hear it, but I won't be in Brooklyn any time soon.

Chris,

I tried to help produce a Cd last year for these guys but they are way too crazy. The singer is an 80's style performance artist that has the chick singer desease on a level that I could never have imagined before. It took 3 months to mix (ummm... screw up) one tune.

It was hell.

Bob

Bob,
I've been getting a theremin effect on my steel for years now. It's very easy,if you own an "E-Bow".

The steel player for Friends of Dean Martinez
uses a Theremin from time to time throughought their performance. They are an instrumental group mostly (at least when I saw them). It was kinda cool!

Bob, I've actually played (tried to)on the "original" theremin that was used to record all of the 1950's sci fi movies that was recorded by Dr. Hoffman back then. His son Gary, who is a drummer and good friend of mine kept it for many years before selling it to someone a couple of years ago. Talk about difficult to play -- at least on psg you've got markers to give you an indication where the note is. It was a beautiful sounding instrument. Because of it's size and historical value, it wasn't the kind of instrument that you took to a gig, only to a special event. Unfortunately we never tried playing the steel & theremin together before it was sold. -- Marc
