I needed to clean out my drop box account to accommodate some big client video files for work. The Nuages arrangement had a couple minor errors that I later corrected. Nuages is included in my B11th book available here: www.volkmediabooks.com

Hi Andy,
Have you considered recording these? I'm sure you're at least as self conscious as myself when it comes to playing but the midi files are really difficult to listen to.
I'm sure you would do the songs better justice than you think if you plated them yourself!

Hi Miles, your book will ship this weekend. I re-arranged Manoir Des Mes Reves (Django's Castle) in D6th tuning (low to hi) D A D F# B D for a new book of acoustic arrangements I'm doing. Here's the MIDI to give you an idea of how it sounds:
https://soundcloud.com/aev/d6th-djangos ... rrangement
So far, in addition to tips and exercises for open D tuning, the tunes in the new book are ...
Amie
Blue Bayou
Blue Jade
Bud's Bounce
In My Room
Jessica
Jig Medley: The Hag at the Churn, The Kesh Jig, The Lilting Banshee
Manoir Des Mes Reves
Mizrab (Gabor Szabo)
Scarborough Fair
Shady Grove
Sweet Tea (AV original)
The Lonely Bull
The Sound of Music (based on Laurindo Almeida's guitar arrangement)

I got Andy's new B11 book today. Fun stuff!
He has the arrangement for Nuages in F, which is the key of Django's first recording in 1940. The 1940 recording features clarinets instead of a violin. In later recordings, Django plays it in G, and most gypsy jazz players will play it in G. Speculation is that when Django gave the chart to Stephane Grapelli (who is not on the original recording - he was in England during WWII), he gave him the clarinet part, which is written a whole step up. Stephane played it in G, and away they went.
There are about 13 known recordings of Django playing Nuages, in both F and G. I don't think the key made much difference to him.
It's not a big deal to transpose the song from F to G. I love this book. I might even have "Blue Wind" down for my gig Saturday

Thanks, Miles! Glad you're enjoying the arrangements.
His final 1953 recording on electric guitar for Blue Star is my all-time favorite Django performance of Nuages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvNPDdcaPzI

B11th is a terrific tuning and more players should check it out. There have been many good B11th Forum threads over the years. Here's one ...

Here's a vey well played version of Wear a Lei in B11th. The tuning works for many genres of music not just Hawaiian.
