Multi effects units like the Genesis, the POD, or modeling amps are small computers really. They need a stable current to operate properly. Air conditioning, electric heating, powerful fans, beer cooling systems can cause the voltage to drop, even if only momentarily.
If the voltage drops below a certain value my POD or AX2 (Line 6's formerly top-of-the-line modeling amp) simply go berserk. They flip through presets at random, give off real ugly digital distortion and finally cut out altogether. It took me a while to realize what was happening. Now I plug these units into a voltage stabilizer and they perform perfectly.
Unless there's a blackout ... then it's Dobro and candlelight.
