This is very sad news, I was off the forum a few days and returned to see this :( . My sincere condolences to Margit, family and friends. I never met him personally but we spoke on the phone a few times and he was always so accomodating and warm.

Tonight at my gig I'll be playing my Derby and thinking of Charlie.

Another great gentleman of steel guitar.a very lovable friend. Will miss him so much at St Louis and Dallas shows.
While his personal legacy will live on,I also hope his "Derby" legacy continues. Hopefully the company will continue making their fine steel guitars.

Please . . . . . Sign Charlie's Guest Book

This will stay up until the end of March

And be made into a book for Margit

We were with Margit last week and she doing fine.

I feel so bad, I'm lost for words
Margit and the family are still in our prayers

We have a lot of good memories with him and Margit

Charles Stepp

I had a long and very nice conversation with Margit last week. I cannot believe a year has passed. I am delighted to know that the Derby family business is being carried forward. I think of Charlie and the Stepp family often and with great fondness. I do hope that the passage of time eases their grief. I shall never forget the kindness shown to me by Charlie and Margit. Regards, best wishes, and continued prayers from all of us.

John and the Widgren family.
