I'm more "at home" on the E9th, but that is changing as I get more C6th experience.
I tend to think of pedal steel as a "universal" musical instrument, rather than as an E9th "country" instument or a C6th "jazz" instrument. Once a tuning reaches a certain level of complexity, any kind of music can be played on it. The tuning doesn't really matter anymore.
That's my opinion, anyway.
