Dr. Hugh: (Why am I wanting to say Dr. Phil....)?
When I went to England in 59 I had a D-8 National but no amp. They put us up temporarily in an English pub in Fairford. I wanted to practice one night so I put the guitar on top of a low dresser and was pleasantly surprized by the accoustical amplification the old wooden furniture gave to the National. But that wasn't the whole story....
A knock came on the door and there was the night manager. It seems everyone in the hotel could hear it as well as I could. The floor was also very old and dry. May have been a hundred years old for all I knew.
I later built my own amplifier and used some speakers called Sheffields 40 years before Peavey and the US heard of them.
Regards, Paul

To Paul Graupp - I don't know about the Dr. Phil bit, but he's a skull man; I'm an eye man. Anyway, I had a double National; really liked it; you're vibrations story is a good one; I had a similar experience. It was really a success story about the Peavey Co. They used to have the Melody Music Store in Meridian, Ms. When I lived there, I bought strings, etc. from them; some growth uh? .. Hugh

Hey guys! This is MORE LIKE IT! A little "bonding" among fella's with a fairly common interest, is not all bad, so I'm told, and it sure beats going out and spending a night in the cold, scarey woods in an effort to achieve the same results.
Jody......what are we going to do with you?
You're so special I cannot find the words to accurately describe you....so "FRIEND" will just have to do.
In spite of being a sweet, wonderful, caring, sensitive, loveable, out-going, swavee and de-boner sorta guy with a day job,
I'll have to admit that I had to start assigning numbers to the "ex's" as it was a lot easier to remember than Darling....lah de dah... or whatever. I recall vaguely rolling over one night during my slumber and saying something like "I love you ......." however the woman next to me had a different name. With numbers, I find them to be a little more tolerant if I should make a mistake and say something like "Darling #2, I love you" when actually it is #3 or #4 or whatever. I'm just too old to remember all those details. I still have more Rick Bakelites than ex's so I guess I'm not all bad. Anybody want to argue about it?!
This post is working out to be like an inexpensive therapy session and it CAN LAST more than 40 minutes. Right?

I have had the same wife for 23 years and even though she is grossly overweight, missing all her upper teeth, hairy arm pits and frequently emits a foul smelling gas likened to that of rotten eggs I still can't get her to leave me so I've just learned to live with her. She does however, buy me steel guitars and begs me to practice just so she doesn't have to listen to me tell her to clean herself up and try to make herself look like something good. What a woman!!!
......I'm dead if she reads this!

Yeah, Ray. Women go for that in a real big way. Most of them don't mind if you're only off plus or minus one or two, eh? Sheesh! With numbers, I find them to be a little more tolerant if I should make a mistake and say something like "Darling #2, I love you" when actually it is #3 or #4 or whatever.

ROTFLMAO
i sure would'nt want to be in Mike's shoes
i had a hard time settling down w: the ladies
cause i always prefered the relation and feedback of my guitar.
i made the ladies cry when i told them i loved my guitar more than them.
Well i was lucky since they liked having a troubadour on hand and i never found my gear out on the porch.
i have never been married. i have been living w: the same woman 10 years and we have 4 kids who help keep the Musik alive at Home.
So far so Good...

No Jim , I didn't marry my sister, she said it would create too much stress around the holidays when the family gets together , and she doesn't like folks talking behind her back.
She turned me down...

My experience is the same as Herb's, i.e., my wife plays a lot better than I do, only it's on piano -- been tickling the ivories since she was five years old and her degree is in music. It sure saves a lot on music lessons when you marry your teacher. The nearest I will ever be to a musician is that I sleep with (the same) one every night

Here's a sad one for ya. First wife left cause I wouldn't learn the steel, second left cause i tried to. Just seems like us steelers can't win for losing.(at least some of us) Darned if we do, darn if we don't !! Think I'll marry my steel next time

My first wife (aka the queen of darkness) told me that steel guitar + computers = marriage poison (though it does give the missus plenty of time to meet other men). Of course all I got to keep is the guitar and the computer after the anti-male divorce court got through with me. In the long run it all worked out and I even have my kids living with me now.
Wish the legal system could be revamped to treat both parties equally. right now its Waaaaaaaayyy too one-sided.

wife 2...loves the steel and anything to do with the music...hmmm...now if i can only stop her from going to the bars and picking up men....i wonder if she's selling a product
