I currently own 2 Derrel Stephens models;one made in 1978 and one in 1979. Derrel definitely made them right! I play a D-10 Zumsteel and a S-12 Sierra through them. Here is a typical tone setting: Bass-3,Body-0,Treble-2.5,Bite switch down,Expand switch-up. If I play in a really crowded place where bodies soak up the sound, I'll flip the Bite switch up. The pots have a very smooth taper & are very active,so playing with them in a low position like 2 or 1 is not a problem. Great amps. I hope no one cheapens them.

I have a new Evans SE200 and don't recognize the problem with the treble control. On my amp it's very gradual.

Marco, that's interesting. I wonder if Evans has addressed that issue on very recent models. Most people, including Derrell Stephens admit that the treble control get's extreme above 1.5 or 2 on pretty much any era of Evans amp.

I don't know about that, the serial number of the preamp is 0328-4. Since it still under warrenty, I won't open the unit to look inside. Image

Marco,
Your serial number would indicate the amp was built during the 28th week of 2003 (about the second week of July). The first two digits indicate the year of the decade and the second two indicate the week of the year. Your amp just celebrated it's first birthday! Image

Keep on pickin'!

I didn't know that. I didn't even feed him a birthday cake. Image
It's a fine amp and I'm happy with it.
