It's too bad about the pots being so crappy but really doesn't surprise me. I think electronics in general is junk. There is exception of coarse to some musical gear but consumer related to me is crap. Get a year out of it and it's done. I've got three pots on hand and I'll use those until the last one is toast!! The best way to go.But on the other hand..
I really like my old Sho~Bud volume pedal that mounts to the pedal bar.I like the way it sounds and the way it looks.Maybe Im old fashioned.Maybe Im just a "Nut".Anybody ever try puttin' the "guts"out of one of them New-fangled pedals into the body of an old Sho~Bud type pedal and have the best of both worlds? Kind of a Franken-pedal? might just work.Old style looks and new wave electronics.You never know....

If you like the authentic sound of a push/pull, how can you, in good conscience, use a modern, up-to-date, foot volume control. We want to keep the sound original, don't we????
