The VF-1 is a killer unit, but it has two problems: no tap button, and no external loop. The tap button is definitely a problem, the latter is only a problem if you like some efx before your preamp and some after (e.g. envelope filter or compressor before, reverb and delay after). I find the reverbs and delays to be really close to the Lexicon on the Boss.

I use the tap button a lot. One of my favorite effects on the MPX-100 is the shuffle delay. It's pretty spectacular on an upbeat tune when you tap to set the the delay rate to the tempo of the song.

I thought that tap rotary would be cool, but it actually sounds better with the traditional slow/fast settings. On the MPX-100, the centerline on the adjustment knob throws it from slow to fast, and it speeds up or slows down like a real leslie. The tap rotary doesn't generate that kind of exceitement.
