It was Doug Poindexter's band---a short-lived affair.
Both sides of it are on Youtube.

Thanks Mitch. Scotty's guitarwork is very recognisable in the second recording.

Keith Richards on Scotty Moore

Keith Richards once said. "Everyone else wanted to be Elvis, I wanted to be Scotty."

Why was Scotty Moore's obit moved from Gone Home to another section? I found it, but cannot see why it was moved. Scotty was an important country music player as well as being one of the first rock and roll icons of the guitar.

I think he smoked incessantly. I recently saw a picture of Elvis and band eating dinner in the back yard of a promoter's home in West Texas in 1955---Bill had a fork in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Even in the picture posted by Mitch Drumm earlier in this thread, both Black and Scotty had cigarettes in their hands.

I met and visited with Scotty a few years ago. What great stories. His stories make you realize the line between super stardom and obscurity is pretty thin.

A lot of luck and perfect timing involved.

Here's that pic I mentioned.

Midland Texas, April 28, 1955.

You don't often see someone carving something with a knife and fork with a cigarette in their mouth.

Scotty can't contain himself--he's got his left hand on Miss Texas of 1955--June Pritchard.

The older guy at the head of the table (Pop Holifield) was responsible for getting Roy Orbison an audition with Sam Phillips in Memphis a few months after this picture was taken.

Godspeed Scotty Moore.

Where would music be today without you...
