Steel was placed as perfect as you would expect!
Nice!
I have to say that the pure breath of sorrow and emotion she presented on "WHID" had to move the musicians to pull out ever ounce of heart and soul they had to mirror her ability to say i'm sorry in this song.
It would be very hard for me to play a session on this song as she delivered the tears in her heart in every line she sang with her heart bleeding!
It is absolutly as pure as i have heard in a long time by any artist.
Paul, this will have me buying this album and thx for sharing....kenny

Wow, what a beautiful marriage between pedal steel and acoustic instruments complimenting and supporting such an excellent singer so wonderfully!
The emotion and dynamics are superb in every sense of the word.
Thank you for posting this, Paul. It's always refreshing to hear something that not only sounds delightful and pleasing to the ear, but also pulls on the heart strings in such a profound and special way. A wonderful and truly unique & powerful song.

Whid
Thanks Paul for letting us in on this superb recording-everything understated-
but together -perfect! Unusual to see a vocalist not using a static mike in the studio?

Sweet stuff, that!
I suppose this will show up on my local "country" radio station. Yea...
While I'm not in favor of trying to return to the past, a fine song and performance is timeless. Wouldn't be out of place on our numerous college stations that still play real music, a la Kathy Mattea's recent recordings.

Very nice Paul, very nice. I really enjoy the creativeness in the studio with all the musicians together.

Thanks to all for listening.
Kevin,
To answer your question...We recorded the CD earlier in the week so we knew the material....the video is performed live in front of an audience.....There were around 5 cameras to capture everything visually because the goal was to have the music flow in show form, as much as possible. Darrell and Leanne wanted the video to look and feel like a live performance. She also sang the whole project holding the microphone. I thought that decision was a brilliant idea.
The CD and the video were recorded in the big room at Capitol in LA and the music on the video was mixed after the fact by NIko and I'm sorry I don't remember the video producers name for editing credits....I thought his visual sensibilities captured the emotion of the song.
All the best to everyone this holiday season!
Paul
