Herbie had so much class. The way he conducted himself and the way he dressed. I first met him at one of his seminars as a beginning steel player, he was truly special. Prayers go out for the family and all his friends. GOD bless you Herbie.

He touched us all with his skill, character and personality. I was also very impressed with his calm and relentless determination to keep playing after a stroke. He was gaining ground, but God decided his time was now to add his playing ability to heaven.
Prayers to his family and all that knew him.

I met Herby at last year's Dallas show. He was just coming into the ballroom to set up his booth. I said hello, and he began talking to me like we had known each other all of our lives. Before I knew it, I was helping him set up his table and buying things that I didn't need. Even though I only knew him from that one encounter, I feel the loss. I guess that shows the kind of person he was.

So sad to hear of his passing. Herby attended about every steel show he could, and was always helpful in anyway to fellow players. He will be missed by all. His playing of Ten Thousand Years always touched my heart along with his wonderful c6 ability.
Rest in Peace.

Herbie Wallace

The loss of a good friend ... a legend as a steel guitarist. I have known Herbie since he visited the Music Mart(Smyrna,Ga.)coming down from Chattanooga back in the 1972/1973 timeframe. Herbie and Wayne Stowers were best of friends and Wayne would always get Herbie to play...and he amazed everyone back then. RIP.

I first met Herby in 1981 when he would come to the Atlanta area and teach in the basement of The Music Mart. He became a great friend and mentor over the years. I cherish the times I got to sit and talk with him and and a few times I played bass behind him. Hearing his set on any show was always a special treat, packed with energy and swing.

Our prayers and sympathy go out to Bunny, Herby III, and the other family members.

Rest In Peace Herby,

Bill C.

Just like those who have already posted, I was shocked when my friend Mickey Adams called me with the news of Herby's passing. One of the finest gentlemen in the world, and especially in the world of steel guitars. A gentleman always, and a grand master player. At one of the last shows in Gulfport, MS, Herby asked me to sing with him......what an honor that was. I will miss this legend of the steel guitar, and my good friend. Our heartfelt condolences to Ms Bunny and Herby's children. May God keep His Grace and Peace surrounding you all.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family.... I don't have any stories of Herby. I didn't know him very well and had only spoke to him a couple of times. But I will thank him again as did the day I met him....I heard him play at a seminar when I was 18 and decided right then and there that's what I wanted to do...I have been struggling to imitate and learn from him ever since....Thank you Mr. Wallace....
